IUA World Congress in Rome going virtual!

Message by Prof. Pier Luigi Antignani, President of the XXIX IUA World Congress in Rome

Dear Colleagues and Friends,

As you have been informed, I was forced to cancel the XXIX IUA World Congress in Rome (April 23–27) due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Considering the uncertainty of the current situation and the lack of long-term prospect for organizing scientific meetings, postponement of the congress was not an option either.

Therefore, to keep the benefits of the work I have been doing for more than two years, I decided to organize the congress as a virtual congress on-demand with a collection of presentations that were supposed to be presented at the congress in Rome.

There will be a lot of lectures and presentations by the members of numerous scientific vascular societies from all around the world. Significant space will also be available for free communications and e-posters. Their authors will compete for the new "Evi Kalodiki Award".

The virtual World Congress of the International Union of Angiology will be on-line from June 15 and will be open for three months.

A chat system will be activated on the congress website, enabling you to send questions to the speakers and receive their answers.

Virtual attendees of the congress will receive a certificate of attendance.

Abstracts of all presentations will be published in a supplement of International Angiology, the official journal of IUA.

All information about the congress will be available soon on www.iua2020.com.

In conclusion, it will be a very new and intriguing modality of congress organization, and I hope that it will be well accepted by most of you. Of course, all delegates registered to the Rome congress will have free access to the virtual version of the congress. The same applies to the speakers.

I would like to express my thanks to all sponsors for their support and also to all members of my staff for cooperation and for the hard work which lies behind the realization of the first virtual congress of the International Union of Angiology.
