Organization of the IUA congresses

Basic rules of organization of the IUA World and Chapter congresses
Approved by the IUA Congress Subcommittee and the IUA Executive Board on Nov. 28, 2020.
Valid from 2021.

At the time of the application, the organizer of the congress has to be a fellow of the IUA, a member of the IUA Administrative Board, and has to be active in IUA activities.

The application must be officially supported by the scientific society of the organizer, which also has to be an associate society of the IUA, cooperating with the IUA in its activities.

The IUA will not use a core PCO. The local organizer selects a local PCO.

The local organizer is fully responsible for the congress, including its budget.

From 2021 until further notice, a congress levy of 10% of all the registration fees will be paid to the IUA.

The IUA Congress Subcommittee will cooperate with the local organizer in all aspects of the congress organization, including addressing potential sponsors on the international level, addressing international speakers, and preparing the scientific program.

The IUA Scientific Committee and the IUA Executive Board will cooperate with the local organizer in preparation of the scientific program and selection of the speakers.

The local organizer will (also on behalf of the IUA) address and encourage the associate societies of the IUA to participate actively in the program of the congress (organize scientific sessions on specific topics or nominate individual speakers). One session can be organized by one or more associate societies, which will nominate its representatives to the session.

The local organizer will provide free registration to the members of the IUA Executive Board.
